The National Night Out is an event primarily sponsored by Law Enforcement. The event empowers the citizens of a community to become proactive in the fight against crime. During the event, authorities are able to better educate the public on how to prevent being vicitmized. Local authorities require the assistance of citizens to deter crime by reporting illegal and suspicious activity. This is better accomplished when the police department has a good rapport with the citizens they serve. The National Night Out creates the environment that enables the community to get to know the individual officers that serve the community. Texas celebrated the 28th Annual National Night Out on October 4, 2011. Wolfforth also participated in the event which was hosted at Patterson Park.
